SL33P .. what do you take to sleep? Like really sleep

Have you tried DSIP. It’s a peptide shown to help with sleep. My wife just started on it and it has had positive results.

DISCLAIMER: I don't condone or support anyone self medicating with sleep aids. Here is my subjective experience.

I've been a shift worker in medicine my entire life/career so my doctor prescribed Zopicone (similiar to Ambien) 15mg and quetiapine 75mg daily, which is an insane dose sleep cocktail, can knock out a horse. Had that prescription on auto-refill for almost 10 years now ... As highly effective as they are I DON'T recommend anyone starting them and here is why. Like many, I've tried to ween off multiple times, with professional help and I cannot physically get off, my body and brain are dependent. They opted to leave me on them for life now. It's a real struggle, and I don't wish anyone gets stuck in that cycle. Once you're on its incredibly difficult to get off after prolonged use. Not to mention the withdrawls that come with it.

Dependency is very very real, and is a horrible feeling knowing my body cannot sleep without them likely ever again. Because I work in medicine many of the practitioners and fellow health care workers are also on the same dosed scripts, they are handed out like candy unfortunately. It's a sad reality many of us face. My recommendation stick the shitty herbals/melatonin buddy.

I was scripted zopiclone years ago. It works very well for me. But like you mentioned its addicting. Learning to fall asleep without it after was very difficult. I agree with sticking to the herbals amd over the counter choices.

Valerian root - if nerves feel fried
Tylonal t-1 - if pain is present
Melatonin - general
CBD oil - general

addictve?

I didn't know zopiclone was addictive. Took it for years, stopped cold turkey with zero side effects or withdrawals...

Op, if you ever find something that actually works, let me know. At this point I just accept I won't sleep for a few days. The angrier/ agitated I get, the worst the insomnia becomes.

Truth be told I supplement a Magnesium supplement at 500mg and it does the trick plus some. I never really understood the use of Mg but this brand and dose I found actually works wonders. I don’t take it every night. Just nights when I’m feeling restless for like 30 mins I’ll take a pill and within another 20-30 tops I’m out cold.

Different things work differently for everyone.

Yea unless you work shift work, you shouldn't need a big chemical cocktail. If you do there's probably something wrong with how your days structured, what times you eat, too many naps or maybe over training. When I over train I can't sleep it fucks up your nervous system too much.

Pretty close with dependency for sleep, but in my own experience (I’ve had a script for years now) not even 1/10 as insane a withdrawals would be.
Oh fuck good to know. So you mean withdrawals for imovane aren't nearly as bad as benzos just you can't sleep worth a shit ?

For a few days maybe, yea. But common benzo withdrawals are similar to heavy alcohol withdrawals. There’s a certain chemical component to them that immovane (zopiclone) won’t have. But for sure a few sleepless nights maybe some more severe for others

Oh ok good to know. Yea alcohol and benzos can actually cause organ failure and death from with drawls. Scarey shit.

Morning @CoolBreeze - no one will point you in the direction of illegally buying a benzo or controlled substance or this thread will be shut down plus you run a huge risk trying to get something internationally across our borders. When I order from the US, they open my boxes ox sAME to make sure it is and isn't full of something else.
I can relate to the insomnia and a CPAP machine helped a lot but I tried many sleep aids prescribed by doctors that worked great. Some lose their potency if you use them daily. Most are super low dose antidepressants (often old tricyclic types):
1. Remeron is the go to today for most doctors. They usually prescribe 7.5 mg a night when the anti-depressant dosage is 30. It can make you a little dopy in the morning until your used to it and prepare for hunger as the medication is also used for animals and people who won't eat.
2. Trazadone - very old antidepressant often prescribed at 25 or 50 mg or up to 100 mg. I used it via my doc a decade ago for a short period when I couldn't sleep. Be aware this medication can cause priapism and if you don't know what that is please look it up as it can cause permanent damage to your dong.
3. Amitriptyline - another old anti-depressant. It is also used for nerve pain. I was given it for nerve pain when Neurontin would not work and it did help but after I took it at night, I was asleep within an hour.

I think the key is not to use daily or you become dependant - I don't mean like I want that wonderful feeling, your body is used to having it and you have to slowly wean off it so there is no withdrawal.

All docs will help with non addictive medication for sleep but you have to walk them to the line of prescribing it. There is a way to do it and if you want advice, send me a PM. If not, don't.

You didn't want any 'weak ass melatonin herbal tea bullshit k ...' so I will skip by suggestions and I agree a lot is snake oil but some are not. If you want suggestions they will be given but per your wishes - I won't. If you took prescribed sleep aids, herbal treatments won't do much but they will potentiate a prescribed / legal non addictive sleep aid like Remeron.

good luck - no sleep sucks. Do not drink to sleep as you will get a few hours of shit sleep and then wake up feeling worse. Seriously, if you have a partner or friend with benefits have vigorous sex a few hours before you need to sleep. Most will tell you not to exercise close to bedtime but sex somehow is different. I never make it to the bedtime and usually fall asleep shortly after.
I've used Remeron (Mirtazapine) and Trazadone.

The Trazadone helps to get you asleep, the mirtazapine keeps you asleep.
I used it on script and it worked amazing
