What’s your career!

Lol I just got let go because of politics also I wasn't into extreme partying. I am really quite done with non-english speaking plants which seems to be the norm here in British Columbia. I've never once had a Christmas pot luck at work, only Diwali. Foods good but sucks when no one wants to talk with you because you were born here. People can say, "Oh you just don't have anything in common with them." But that isn't the case, they are all good cooks and I love cooking so...
Non English?

That is technically against the law, sir.

Did you try to learn any of their language.
In the wholesale meat industry they is a wide range of groups you work with. I would always try and learn at least good morning and good evening in their language.

Not with this employer but in the past I have. I do ask a ton about their culture and religions though and we talk about it in detail. It doesn't change anything when I do, they might be a little nicer for a day but usually they will laugh for days about when you tried to say something in their language. At one place that gave them okay in their head to speak in their language in front of me more often and when I politely ask if they could speak in English they get snappy and then say, "Well you wanted to learn to speak it?". Quality always goes down at these places and then they hang on by threads. It's usually some crazy older caucasian guy that thinks this is the best way but all you have to do is ask someone in another country how many maintenance techs they have and they literally have one for a huge factory lol.

Is it really? It's completely taken over most manufacturing plants.

All I can say to anyone is don't eat processed food. They're literally forgetting to wash out the lye from the lines, sometimes dye and then there is maggots behind the thin plastic sheet walls and I mean massive amounts of maggots. How does someone know a cleaning crew did their job if none of them can speak a full sentence in English?

I am truly shocked this happens being in the food industry. Their inspection levels must be drastically different them mine. I am going to have to assume they do not use any meat products.

We have to write sanitation protocols if the floor isn’t perfect and after cleanup a bit of water pools. I mean even the size of a palm.

In my youth I cleaned a feather room for awhile and If one feather was found in that room the cfia would find it, it was unbelievable.

Yep, same at my shop. The best part is we compete directly with locally inspected meat shops (once every 2 years inspection) and the grocery stores (which get almost zero inspections).

But since I have a smokehouse I am under pretty much CFIA rules. Once you get all the paperwork its not too bad, other than the constant inspections. And a yearly audit, But I have 4 binders of protocols.

And truthfully customers don’t give a shit as long as the place appears clean.

I bet it costs me an extra 40,000 a year to be inspected this way vs my competition that is only local.

We did have CFIA but for some reason we get a pass. The machines are so close together you have to crawl or squeeze by a lot of things and all the walls have asbestos inside, you will see flys, fly about. I wish I could say what food it was, it's not meat but it's another thing bodybuilders eat a lot of while dieting. Please no one make guesses.

Meat products are considered the highest risk. If it was something like rice cakes then the bacteria levels are more or less non existent so CFIA considers you low risk and you get away with more. The plant is likely CFIA to ship country and world wide.

In a CFIA meat plant the inspector is there all day. Even has their own office with a shower by law.
Being provincial I only need to supply them a spot to work and a locker.

Maybe he's like trying to process the meat and you're like...heh heh hehheh...laying the meat down?

I'll bite, what are you talking about? What's illegal and by what authority?
We're a bilingual country as set out by law. At some point, you must use either with both preferred.

I'm sure there are tons of places that default to other languages however they must provide the ability for someone to speak English or French. If someone immigrates to Canada then they are provided resources/schooling/money etc to learn one or both for free.

If the business operates in Quebec, it MUST support French as part of their "We musss keeps our Francais language alive tabarnak or dey might disappear tabarnak (Or so I understand from the wiki and life learning). Signage for stores/street signs/official business (which I would assume inside businesses) MUST be at least French with having English if dey feel like it.

Esti de calice de tabarnak, c'est pas possible comment que t'es cave (I had to learn French because I worked the odd border town from Ontario to Quebec) (Which means and I'm kidding when I say "Jesus Fucking Christ, there's no way you can be this stupid"...it's a VERY common comment...the Quebec'ers swear like drunken sailors)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Official_bilingualism_in_Canada#Elsewhere_in_Canada Is just part of the whole freeking mess (merde)

i am a hard rock miner mined gold 2 miles underground the floor was always dirty and nobody cared about the mega amount of fuel spilled all over i mean pools 20 feet long 8 feet wide they just took the inspectors to the good parts of the mine then back up they'd go to the surface best job in the world supervisor would say go blow some shit up and wed go blow some shit up

I’m still an underground hard rock miner… used to be a gold digger but now I switched to based metals. Working over 10000ft underground. Hot as hell. My work ethics are great about the only thing I been able to stay at the top of my game with these past years lol.

I had to wear sweaters in the summer cuz I was always cold there'd be days I'd sweat so much u could pour it out of my rubber boots and u don't know wat dark is till u shut ur light off down there .my light went out one time had to follow the wall to the ramp flagged down the nipper took his.when I started we went down the old shaft in an 8 man cage packed in stomach to back so tight had told our bags between our legs I liked to be at the front watch the levels go by then they open the new 3 shaft had a double decker cage could fit 60 a level u could sit down now that was luxury

Indeed. When the light goes out and there’s no équipement around you get to know true darkness. I kind of like it though. There are times when I’ll do it for a few minutes just for fun when I take a breather. I’ve worked in mines that are so cold the drifts look like ice caves. How ever this mine is over 30 degrees pretty constant. But now everyone has cell phones for communication so there’s always a back up light lol

My dad worked underground for a while, primarily gold, he said they worked 4 hour shifts because of the heat. I can’t remember what he said the temperature was. The deepest point if I remember was 4,000ft. the shaft entrance sat at 3,400ft. so just slightly below sea level.

Im in Ontario, from what i gather there is quite a bit. Lots of auto plants here too.
Yes tons of robotics work here in Ontario. Every warehouse going up has pickers and sorters, and there is a real dearth of skilled electricians and millwrights who can do this type of work.
