If you had to pick 5 lifts/movements

Deadlift varied types of grip width and stance
Front barbell squat varied stance
Dumbbell bench Press varied bench angles decline, flat, incline
Supinated and pronated grip barbell rows varied of angles of hip and knee bend
Dumbell flys seated, standing / front, side, etc.

I am going to change my five fav lifts to

deadlifts - thats it

That is all I do now. I walk past my deadlift bar in my weight room about 5 times a day so I do a couple of set of 3 each time. Nothing else. It stresses the whole body.

Dead lifts
Squats
Incline DB bench press
Hammer strength strength shoulder press
Bent over rows

Close gripped tricep bench press
Preacher Dumb bell curls (one handed)
Lat Pull Down
Dumbbell Fly (chest)
Barbell Squats

if such a day were to come that I had to choose only 5 would be a dark day. Squats I had to put. I I would have had deadlifts instead of lay pull down but my deadlift form isn’t A+ yet and I’m a stickler for form.

Deadlifts are my favourite workout..They are indeed a full body during summer it’s dead lifts for an hour swim for an hour tan for in hour lol. HEAVY deadlifts does increase natural testosterone levels as well you may notice it manifest as a pumped up mentality , muscle pumps , ect ... Today I’m doing 100 barbell squats and 100 leg presses . Lightweight as I’m focusing on getting my form back to A++

After watching chinese weight lifters train the past few weeks, they pretty much only do a few movements other than the Olympic lifts like clean/jerk and snatch , they just do

Squat
Shoulder press
Deadlift
Dips
Pull ups
Abs/ core / hyper extensions
Rear delt raises

I found doing exercises which I was strongest in (moving the most weight) gave me way better results.
I only do

Bench press
Pull ups
Deadlift
Shoulder press
Dips

We can’t forget the classic push-ups and sit-ups Bruce lee is quoted as doing 1000 of each every day on top of all other training.

I tried doing high rep training when gyms closed a few months ago during the pandemic but it didn’t give the same results
Was doing 100 pushups/dips/ab raises/pull-ups a few times a day. (Total of a few hundred reps each per day, I’d just do as many as I could, rest, repeats in bouts of 100 reps)

I think you need heavy enough resistance to cause the body adapt, I was doing 3 sets every other day of 4-6 reps and got better results with deadlift/leg press/bench press/shoulder press/weighted dips/lat pull down. I got way stronger too

Excellent selection of exercises. All compound exercises. The only thing I see missing in your routine is the squat. This is one of the most taxing movements there is on your posterior chain of muscles. It hits the thighs and the core as well. Why do you think olympic lifters have such huge legs ... heavy low squats. Arms are over rates to train directly lol

Haha I knew someone would bring this up,
I never liked squats for some reason, I’d feel it more in my upper body than lower body when I was done

smith machine squats weren’t bad but I would have to load the bar with weight which I felt was dangerous

leg press was always my go to for legs, but don’t have one at home. I also found I eventually had to load quite a bit of weight on the leg press which started to feel dangerous

I think it’s cause I dislocated my knee and tore my MCL /patella tendon (or however you spell it)

one wrong foot position and it’ll probably be a long day at the hospital and with covid I am avoiding the hospital at all costs, even for chicken legs

Deadlifts
Squats
Flat bench
Straight bar curl
Military press

I imagined myself with only a cage a bench and an Olympic set to work with
The only difference I would pick Rev chins for some back and biceps and the mil press would be standing 👍

I actually found my legs got enough of a workout from deadlifts that I didn’t need squats lol
