What's a good *resting heart rate?

Coincidentally, I had a conversation with a cardiac care nurse, and she felt that anything below 70 was indicative of regular exercise. Mine was hovering around plus or minus 60, which she said for my creeping age was quite good. Now, if I can do something about my systolic readings.

So what does everyone consider rested heart rate. When you are sleeping?
No, I don't have a monitor on me when I sleep. I sit and relax for 10-15 minutes and take my BP which also reads my HR. Sleeping of course if definitely at rest but according to the docs I chat with they state BP should be when you are sitting comfortably, resting, for at minimum 10 minutes (that includes BP). Not saying @torauntjemima is wrong - if I had a watch that monitored it, that would be interesting but I still believe it should be first thing in the morning when you get up and are relaxing before the day starts.

I don't disagree, and I may very well be wrong 😂

Just my watches way of doing it, so take that for what it is. I always thought it was weird as that's a sleeping heart rate, not resting.

Makes sense

I take mine from an oxymeter. When I lay down at night, i relax about 5 min then measure. Its the most consistent then. Its great information because as i get run down/ over trained it starts going up to 55-57. I know then to back off training at bit or take a few days off work.

My understanding is while you sleep is not considered RHR. For most it drops very low if you are getting quality sleep. When i get a sleep study done i know mine drops to like 40-44.

As for BP, you might be onto why I don’t get consistent readings because I don’t stay still long enough. Typically i wait like 2 minutes. I didn’t know its supposed to be like 10 min.
