Painted the house top to bottom- $2k

Fuck popcorn ceilings. I redid my whole basement. Ceilings, ceiling lighting, flooring, brickwork around the fireplace, even put in a wine cellar.

And I still think about what a godawful mess the popcorn ceiling removal was, everything else was a pleasure.
$2k for all that seems not unreasonable.

I was tempted just to drywall over it.

I agree, huge mess and pain in the ass to scrap off.
 
I bought a dry wall sander. 80 grit mesh and a shop vacuum took care of 90% of the dust. Two days just for that including the compound he used to smooth everything out then sand. Came out beautiful. He coming over to refinish the hard wood floors. $400 I provide all materials and rent the sanders. He is in his late 60's so I am trying to drum up some work for him because he needs it so I let my friends know.
