What's the best 'feat of strength' that you've seen?

to start off my ex brother in law. heavy duty auto mechanic/ farmer/ truck driver/ father and all around nice calm guy. He is fresh out of by pass surgury. Still healing under doctors orders not to lift anything. He is taking me hunting on his uncles farm that he inherited after his uncle passed on. We are driving down the private road and we come to stop because someone has put a post into the middle of the road with a chain to two posts on the edge of the road. My brother in law sees this and gets out of the truck. he goes over to the post. first he yanks one chain out of that post and then the other ine. Then he proceeds to wrap his arms around the pole. he then slowly inches it up bit by bit until its out of the dirt. he then tosses it like a toothpick to the side of the road. That post was cemented into the ground. I have no clue how he did it but omg that man was determined and strong as an ox. Given my breakup with ex number 3 I have no contact with him other then he is alive and well.

Was helping this contractor build a rock wall with my skid steer.Big Hawaian guy named Lee.This one Boulder I didn’t think was suitable, nearly round, bigger than I would even consider trying to lift.He wants it.I move up the skid steer, figure he is going to roll it into the bucket.Just picks it up and casually places it on the wall.

1985. There’s 6 of us in a crew cab heading out to the bush. One of the guys was a old grizzled faller a drunk as wide as he was tall. His idea of having a mixed drink was a glass almost filled to the top with rum and maybe a couple ounces of coca cola. A 26er of that and a case of beer was his during the week nightly drink, the weekends was another story. A hard worker though couldn't take that away from him.

Anyway we're off to work, the box of the truck is overflowing with chainsaws, chokers, cables more than maxed out with weight. Of course we get a flat in the back tire. We all jump out and do what we can to speed things up. I grab the bumper jack, set in place and start jacking her up. The weight of the truck combined with all the weight in the box it was all I could do to lift, I was putting my entire body weight ( I weighed about 160 back then) into it.

That grizzled old bastard was impatient especially with newer guys which I was. He was hollering at me to get the damned tire off the ground, I finally lost it and hollered back to fuck off and to do it himself. He pushes me aside and still on his knees leaning over to see the tire he extends his arm reaches over and with his arm still extended he starts jacking the truck up.

Everyone of us just stood there with our jaws dropped.

I've seen plenty of guys in the gym lifting crazy amount of weight but for me whenever that question comes up I can't help but think of this old guy, truly impressive.

When I was young I hung out and attempted to help my Grandfather as he was working on some type of construction project out in his backyard. I didn't witness him lift anything super heavy but he displayed strength in a different way than what I was used to - mental strength. I remember him as he pounded away and then missed with the hammer and beat the shit out of his thumb. I remember that he didn't react or even flinch at all. I asked him about it and he explained his whole philosophy regarding pain and how it's all in your head, etc. and it's up to you how to deal with it. That stuck with me until this day. I should mention that I didn't see my Father much growing up but my Grandfather would always take the time to visit, pick me up, bring me over to his house and do things all kinds of things with me so he was really like a Father to me. He was pretty cool. :)

I was 8 years old the tractor blew a drive shaft, my old man pissed off walked to the front of it grabbed the front bumper and flipped it over backwards. I stood there in awe and kept my distance for a bit lol

When I was in my early 20's Paul Lepik strolled into the gym in Port Moody to do squats. I have no idea what he threw on the bar to warm up but it was enough it was bending over his traps and he continued to add plates till it was full and hardly seemed to struggle to complete his sets.

Needless to say I was intimidated but he was the nicest guy and we chatted for a bit as I had seen him fairly recently competing in the WSM. For those that don't know this guy he went the distance with Magnus ver Magnusson in the squat competition.

Only thing I could think of was my drunk uncle grabbing his nephew (a 220 pound guy at the time himself) by throat with one hand and sliding him up the wall, at least one foot off the ground and just holding him there. The way he did it made my cousin look like he weighed as much as a paper bag. That side of my family are all farmers.

I’ll go with a gym one.
Guy comes in, maybe weighs 160...musclular but more of a wiry look. Benches a plate to warm up, then loads bar up to 315. This guy looked like he didn’t even train and resembled an accountant lol.

Everyone double takes ...I expected him to lower the bar about one inch or just get it crushed on his lf chest...I’m expecting to have to run over.

He proceeds to unrack it, and do 10 slow controlled reps with a one second pause at the bottom...I just about shit my pants. I thought he was stuck on rep one until last he pressed it back up like paper. I’m not now usually much of a talker at the gym, but took off my headphones and went over and told him that’s was impressive. Nice enough guy, I asked if he did much powerlifting and to my shock he said he never had. He ended up getting a spot from me at 365 for four of the slowest, strictest reps with a pause at the bottom... you had to see this guy...judging a book from the cover I would have guessed a 185 max, 205 at most... it was crazy impressive ....more so if you folks could have seen the smaller build on this guy

I’ve done 365 for 4-6 ....lol... weighing 240....with a huge back arch...probably hips off bench...and a bit of a bounce off my chest hahaha ...this skinny fella did it beyond strict like it was nothing. Was pretty inspiring

I saw the exact same thing except for 6 reps probably a little over 12 years ago. A guy like that used to train at the YMCA in cobourg.

HAha Kingston...could be the same guy for all we know lol

Watched a guy named Grant McDonnell years ago in Calgary do a free standing front press with 405..... lol, I thought he was going to squat it, nope, and he banged off 10 like butter

I have a relative , like 3rd cousin on my mother's side .... Angus Joudrey.... when I met him, he was 95 and driving 4' fence posts by hand.... 3 hits to sink it to the depth he wanted..... stood 6'4" and weighed 250+ lbs.... stopped driving fence posts as it was starting to affect his fly-tying lol.... He's 107 now ... still going strong.... doc said at his last work ups his heart was functioning like a 50 yr olds ..... likely see 115 easy....
He used to simply push cows out of his way.... 1 hand toss hay bales 15'+ onto the trailer (50 lbs a piece) .... I never witnessed it but folks say he used to bend rebar with his hands when he had "a few" on special occasions

Me and another were trying to move some fiber optic peds from the flat deck picker trick onto the trailer by hand, there heavy and awkward suddenly they were just lifted out of our hands by this giant Ukrainian at work all he says while grabbing this ped is there are no fork lifts in Ukraine! Me and buddy just look at each other like WTF? Did that just happen?

You mean Grant McReynolds?

I think its interesting to note how much adreneline impacts strength. Being raging made makes most men capable of feats they couldn't half do calm.

Ever have to deal with someone on meth? Fuck me it's crazy.

Or somebody drowning.Meth and coke.Could be the reason for the cardiac arrests that occur when personnel are forced to use some of those aggressive restraint maneuvers.

It was his prostate according to a close friend.Surprising considering his wife was a nurse.Genetics on top of genetics.

I am a farmer..My family are all big gronks. My uncle came over and wanted a 45 gallon drum of diesel. The barrel was full already. He laid it on its side and picked it up and loaded it on the back of his half ton alone. 450 lbs by his fingertips. I also saw a guy out in the quarry one day blow his tire on his semi trailer. I was coming over with a loader to grab it for him, he asked me to lift him and the tire up a bit. He then lifted the tire and rim up and flung it into the back of his box. Crazy..

Well Eddie Hall accepted a challenge from tv host Paddy McGuiness for lifting with just your dick and balls.Hall won,6 kg kettle.
