So, I was contacted a few months ago by a specialist head hunter, recruiting for executives etc.
I was asked to join a large mining Company. I thought about it, as I am honestly planning to slow down and get ready to semi retire and get away from so much action and stress etc. I have been in almost every industry there is in Canada, no exaggerating, and this will be 3rd stint in mining, different positions.
Not complaining, I have worked hard from a shovel, maybe even the guy that hands the shovel to the shoveller...Very bottom.
Worked my way through the ranks, one step at a time.
I graduated at 15 yrs old, and began my career with a work permit signed by my parents.

On Friday late afternoon, I signed on as Director of Operations and Maintenance and in charge of 5 mine sights and the people there.
I have 2 folks in chain of command above me now. President and the CEO.
I can't tell anyone as I am putting in my notice where I currently am working, and they will be upset, but it is the way it is. So I can't say shit until I return from vacation next week.
I had to tell someone as I am pretty excited.

So this hopefully will be my final job for my career, and I believe I can make some awesome changes as that is what I do. I have a unique style and am very approachable, I am not your typical "The man" type leader and they are looking to bring my style in and let er buck...lol
I am different at work on the job than I am at home, out with my buds and on the boards of course. Otherwise I would be in an institution somewhere. I don't like that I cannot be 100% myself, but I am different than many....So I want to get career over and done someday in near future, then pull the pin and do what I want , when I want, way up in the bush somewhere...
Thanks for reading.

Thanks folks, it is a lot of responsibility, but honestly anything we do carries responsibility. It is not me making the stuff happen out there, i just remove obstacles, support the folks in my chain and look at the big picture and garner my experiences to make the best decision i can.
Everyone else makes it happen and helps me make the vision happen. It is my responsibility to ensure i have communicated the vision, understood and taken care of the concerns and listened to folks. Then ensuring they have buy in, if i don't get that then i look like a fool.
A lot of support and mentoring and talking to Accounting folks on why i need money.
I am good at building business cases....lolol...
But no BS and blowing smoke, i know who makes it work and it starts with me, BUT the folks on the floor make it happen every day, and sustain it.

Oh well i enjoy it and Ontario Dude, no Director please....If i was in the movies, possibly then....lolol.
We shall see what happens, i enjoy these roles as i get to go and see a lot of cool places i wouldn't have the chance to see. I am just a kid from Riding Mountain Manitoba.
Thanks again for the congrats folks it means a lot to me.
I don't use facebook much and don't post this stuff on there, i like to make friends on here and past boards, i have more in common here than FB and all the BS on there.

I know i have been asked before why my face is on here, why i share what i do...Simply put, i have nothing i am worried about. Hell FB is where i worry posting shit and everyone posts everything there and LE watch that and it is still the world wide net. Rats and finks abound there IMHO. Here we are pretty unified for the most part and don't judge as much as some of my old friends do...IMHO.

I need a job you hiring lol
A line i used to use when i worked out in the field construction etc...
Sure i have a job for ya, do you want a soft job?
Most reply..."sure"
open my zipper, there's a soft job, work at it until it gets hard!!!lololol
Sorry, but it is a good un. feel free to use it.
Or if someone sees you with your zipper down. They say "hey loser your flying low..."
My response is...."I am trolling for cocksuckers. Looks like i got a bite..."
@Harley00

BTW, momma signed on today as Health, safety and Environmental MGR, same company..
Moving in 2 weeks, boom.
Hopefully not one of the mines in Labrador. Would hate to see a post saying IW got mauled by a polar bear! lol Congrats on the new position Brother!

Congratulations. I dont know you but, having been involved in mining directly for the past 10 years I can say what you've accomplished gaining this position is nothing to shake a stick at! Stand proud.
