Torn Patellar Tendon

Looking for some help here Brawners.

Since last August so almost a year now I've been dealing with some left knee pain. Initially it started when I was playing with my kids. I knelt down on my left knee and almost fell over due to the extreme shooting pain it created. I'm not sure what or how it was caused initially or if that movement alone caused the problem I'm still having today. So approx a month after that happened and continued chiro and physio it went back to normal. I would say efforts went back up at the gym. Full ROM for squats and all over leg workouts with no associated pain. This pain free training continued until approx this april.

Since then, again not knowing exactly what caused it the pain was more noticeable day to day. Work around the house. My job which at times can be overly physical. Even sitting and standing for too long became annoying. Couldnt even get parallel during my squats even at a lighter weight.

Long story short. Since I've finally got imaging done and found out sometime along the way it turned into a 2cm patellar tendon tear. Partial. Not complete. The tear running parallel with my leg. Went to see a surgeon. Surgery not necessary. Suggested I continue with physio and chiro and take it easy in the gym until its strengthened.

Anyone ever have experience with this? Any recommendations for healing? Gh? Deca? MSM? I'm at the point of knowing what it is but am having trouble getting answers for moving forward as what is best etc.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It’s a significant tear.

Sorry to tell you.... but follow the advice of your healthcare team. Be sure the physio is s good one that understands athletes.

You can try peptides to assist healing. Many better folks here to give advice on their use than I these days though so I will defer. AAS use isn’t the answer.

I will tell you that if you don’t rehab this properly they may take the patella and corresponding tendon if it becomes problematic. Aesthetically speaking it will probably look cool.... when people ask, you can say you a shark attack survivor.... however, missing the patella in turn will present its own issues you don’t want.

So treat it right.

BPC 157 and TB500 may help but no miracle cure. I had a minor tear in my knee and it was the combo of a complete overhaul in weight training, physio every week, and a lot of stretching and work on my own per the sports physiotherapist. The two peptides helped me get back quicker but it took months. I’m still not back to any weight exercises with my legs but I can do parallel quarts with my body weight for high reps and I’m not limping.
It took me a while to find a good knee sports physiotherapist.

Good luck

Yeah rehab is definitely going okay. Incorporated more stretching into my daily regimen as well. I think I'm just worried that itll get worse and not necessarily "heal" to whatever degree it can.

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely look into those 2 compounds. The physiotherapist I was recommended to by the specialist said he was excellent and specialized in knees and lower body sports injury rehab. So I'm assuming in that respect I'm on a good path for now.

Do you feel your knee becoming stronger or is it just the pain and symptoms decreasing over that time?

Pain and symptoms decrease first. Mobility and finally strength.

Age is on the side you don’t want it to be though.

Yeah what has made it worse is that I cant even pinpoint what I did that caused it. Not that it really matters now but it's about making it usable and able with my life and job

I have no idea how I hurt mind either. No, my knee is not stronger and I’m not 100% but I can walk without limping, do body weight deep squats, and am making progress. It will be another 2-3 months before I put any weight on for squats.

Good to know bro.
Thanks for the input. I obviously do not want to push this. I want to do it appropriately so it doesnt fuck me over sooner than later.

Appreciate the info. Thanks so much
