Has anyone followed this?? I think this is the unions pushing an agenda. I was in school when Harris was in and non stop teachers trying to brain wash students.

4 more kids on average for high school

I don’t know what the average is for post secondary classes but I know my first year there was close to 100 students in a class. So is this not making students ready for post secondary education?

E learning course

Pretty sure all of us have had to take an online course or two in our lives to keep up with standards or advance our knowledge, so really what’s the problem

Sex education changes

Who the fuck cares teach them to be respectful of everyone... solves everything. I don’t have a problem with the sex education. But teaching my 8 year old son that there is 26 different genders... really common

Teachers losing jobs

No teachers are losing jobs that I see. As they retire we don’t add more... I think there’s a bigger threat to new teacher positions by retired teachers still working and taking the substitute positions.

So all of these changes to me look not that horrible. Students are claiming they understand about balancing budgets and spending constraints.... where were the walk outs when our Ontario liberal government spent us into the fucking poor house? 15 years of schools going to shit but not a single teacher stood up and said anything about it. For fuck sakes we paid the hotel rooms, pizza, board room costs of the teachers union in the last negotiations totaling over a million dollars! What happened to all the dues teachers pay to that union?

Now there are great teachers out there that teach for the love of teaching I’m not bashing them in the least. But these teachers that use our kids time in class to try and brain wash them that any right leaning government is hitler that I have an issue with!

Lol. I spent my afternoon calling the school and the school board complaining about this. My co workers got a kick listening to me.

Oh yes the new sex Ed curriculum that is so progressive they got a pedophile to write it. No fucking shame what so ever. I don’t understand how everyone got so far away from the center on the left.

High school I kinda understand, but my son is in grade 8. I asked him why they walked out and he did not have an answer. Simply a pawn.....
 
Whole things a bit of a joke.

I do believe that most teachers are in it for the right reasons but I have a family members who’s a teacher and admits to not liking kids and went into it to get summers off.

I’ve never understood why so many government positions require unions anyway.

My grandson school explained that they were not happy with the students walking out and that there were other avenues to use. I get the feeling that they didn’t like the students being used as pawns for something they don’t understand at all.

Ontario is broke, plain and simple. We are at the point where there is no choices left, little cuts on everything, or it would have to be big cuts on a few things. He is trying to negate the impact.

It’s funny because the longer I own my business, the less educated the kids are. I can’t remember in the last decade a student that could do math in their head, their spelling is brutal. I have to teach them not only work ethic, but basic school skills that they should already know. So all the small class sizes and so on did not improve their education.

I don’t believe it’s all the teachers fault. I’m more to incline it’s the parents. They bitch at the teachers, drop their kids off late while they are still wearing their pajamas. They spend too much time on their phones and not enough playing with their children. You can see a huge difference in the kids that parents have spent time with vs the others. I actually feel for the good teachers, it must be frustrating. Parents expecting them to raise their children.

But there are crappy teachers out there as well. Just like in every walk of life. God when I was in the hospital I had a nurse that didn’t feel like changing my leg bag. They were measuring the amount I was peeing to make sure I was drinking enough. I asked her 3 times, the thing was full, full. Eventually I emptied it myself. So they are everywhere.

That is why like today, I asked my 8 yeah old grandson if he wanted to grind stuff in the garage. I was rebuilding an dehumidifier for work, was fitting a motor in it, and had to build brackets and I had him help. God he wanted to grind everything. Same reason why this weekend we are buying a cheap battery powered weed wacker that fits him so he can help me this summer.

But the main message here is the liberals buried us in this insanely deep hole, and now Ford is taking shit fir trying to improve it. It’s a good thing he’s a business owner, he’s used to fighting and making tough choices, but I still feel for the guy. He will be the one blames for Whynns andMcsquinties fuck up.
 
I don’t know about the whole class size thing other than they need to keep the high needs kids out of the regular classes. My 5 year old came home one day dropped his pants and swung his dick around at my wife and his grandma. Realized it was wrong and hasn’t done it since, but has been yelling things like “I want to kill myself” after being told no on a few occasions.

We talked to his school about where he could be learning this, of course they play dumb. I asked a relative that works at the school and surprise! There is a kid in my sons class that swings his dick around all day and screams he wants to kill himself: The teachers can’t remove him, so they just ignore him and keep him out in the half the day.

Lying assholes.
 
@animal-inside in no way am I trying to pile onto teachers as a whole. As I said there are some great ones. In my industry if you aren’t good or safe you’ve either killed someone or lost your licence. So are there people less skilled in my field than others? Yes.

As for first hand accounts... me I was in school when Harris was in. Every teacher I had handed out letters to go home that the reason teachers weren’t marking weren’t doing sports was all thanks to Harris government and to write to your mpp letting them know how horrible Of a decision they’ve made. I remember speaking up against an English teacher that the conservatives were doing what was necessary to stay out of the poor house. To the entire class the teacher told the class to thank me and my parents that we were the reason everything in the school was cancelled. So I’m sorry but, it did happen and does happen.

My own daughter in grade 7 was told by her teacher that the ford government is ruining education and that next year there will be 45 kids in each class..... really? The average for high school is going to 28. So her teacher is in the right telling her that there’s going to be 46 kids in her class sounds like influencing or brain washing to me.

I meant to comment on your point about if there’s kids below grade level... maybe that kid has no buisness being in that grade level? If my kid wasn’t meeting grade standards then they should not be moving on. I’m not putting this all on teachers, blame belongs on parents for not being on top of their kids education. But why are kids moving on to your grade without being educated properly the grade below? I work with my kids non stop on reading and math. So parents need to be accountable for their kids in the younger grades.

As for needing more maturity and self starting in order for bigger classes and Elearning to be successful. Why do we not expect our high school students to take responsibility for themselves... by the age of 16 I would think that you’re ready to have a bit of responsibility and accountability for your learning.

I remember in grade school having my teacher tell us, to tell our parents not to vote for mike Harris lol.

The whole getting kids to walk out thing is semi flawed. I remember we had a walk out in high school. No one actually gave two fucks about any of the teachers problems. We were just a bunch of asshole kids that wanted to skip class lol
 
If I had a kid in grade school I'd be PISSED if they made my kid leave class to protest.

I don't need teachers indoctrinating my kid with their fucking bullshit. if my kid isn't excelling in school it's usually because the fucking Teacher SUCKS!

Don't tell my kid how to vote. Don't tell my kid about stupid transgenderism. Teach them math, science, computer science. You know, SKILLS TO BE SUCCESSFUL. My kid doesn't need a fucking safe space. He needs a tough space. Like the REAL FUCKING WORLD. Kids need to learn how to fail so they can cope with adversity. There needs to be winners and losers... successes and failures to build a backbone and create character and a reality that nothing is gained without hard work.

If they don't like their jobs... DO SOMETHING ELSE. A job isn't a RIGHT. Don't like it? Someone else will. But don't use our kids as pawns. That is fucking disgusting and unforgivable to me.

New math= junk.. complete junk.. I hate it with a passion and got away with not teaching new math for 5 years. Then the school board forced us all to give a standardized test. And it tests the kids abiliity to do math the new way. So I was forced to add this route to my old ways. Kids can't fucking learn from "new math".. They just cant..
Want to know where new math came from? Well one day some random person figured out another way to do multiplication. And then the world figured everyone should learn this cool new way.. No one stopped to think if it was needed, overcomplicated or useful.. It was just put into place and forced upon us.

Our school board once mandated our elementary teachers to teach language using something called "picture word induction model".. They forced teachers to use this instead of phonics. Anyways, it was preached to us that it was the bible and 10000x better then anything ever tried. about 8 years of teachers fighting it and saying it doesn't work and parents complaining, the school board finally saw it was terrible and abandoned the idea. Now I swear to you, its something we just know never to speak of again.. But that "picture word induction model" fucked up a huge amount of kids. They coudn't read, couldn't spell, couldn't sound out words etc.. About 8 years of kids went through this and the high school teachers still dealing with the last few years of kids who had to do it.

So yes, sometimes the education system fucks kids up with their ideas. I do not understand why we don't just teach things the way they have always been taught.

I should add if a kid couldn't understand a concept in math the old way, I would work with them one on one and show them the new way to see if it made more sense to them. Occasioanlly there was students who found the new way better, but 99% learned best using the old way.

Yep, you are totally right, and I already knew this. I am teaching my grandson old math at home because he cannot figure out new math and that was making him hate it.

I know you guys are forced to teach the curriculum even if you think it is wrong. These kids you are talking about are the ones I'm hiring as students and yes the idiots on top really fucked them. Nevermind that they get pushed thru because if they don't parents get mad if their child is held back.

I would truly love to hold my grandson back a year. He is about a year behind, but he is sooo tall that there is no way to do that. He is taller than most grade 4's and he is in grade 3. But instead he does homework every night.

Also what is with the new, learn at their own pace teaching?? we check his homework every day and if he doesn't finish it in class he does it at home. When he complains I tell him that he should just do it at school then, and if he needs help ask the teacher, that's what she is there for.

And if you worked with you children to help them out is because you care. I'm sorry but you are the exception. Last year my grandson was told by us to ask the teacher if he needed help, so he asked his teacher, his teacher told him to ask the student beside him to explain it, like wtf? So another grade 2 student should teach, lol.
 
Oh and of course teachers would be saying vote out Ford. They don't want the cuts. I can understand why. Doesn't mean that they should be voicing their opinions to the students, but it happens.
