I'll start off saying I feel like a dick, I have my 1 year old daughter at the hospital till 5am she was feavering for 4 days which I thought was a reaction to the 3 booster needles she had , so the dr came did a work up of her and decided she needed to have a catheter for a urine sample to rule out infection well 2 male nurses came in , no offence to make nurses, they told me to leave it would be too much for me she would be screaming and stuff, so I said no I'm not going anywhere to strangers taking her pants off with me not there and one grabbed my arm told me I had to leave , I lost my shit I went bezerk my heart rate when through the roof I grabbed a chair , I called them everything , but now realize they were just trying to help her , so the dr came back and said if I feel that strongly I can stay and I calmed right down. But I feel like such an asshole I Icompletly over reacted. I wish I could apologize but it's too late.

First off a nurse is not allowed to grab you or touch you. If they do so you can report them to the College of Nurses in your Province,
which I believe is NS. Also they had no right to ask you to leave in this situation as you fully have a right to be with your daughter during such an invasive procedure. You can be with her for most procedures that are not life threatening, where you may be in the way of the docs and nurses doing their work.
There was also no need for a catheter for this procedure as there are bags which are much less invasive. I would have been a wee bit perturbed over the entire incident.

It’s never too late to apologize man. Even if you went back in a day later and did so face to face to the nurses. Tell them you realize you were out of order but just got that fathers protectiveness going on. I’m sure they would understand where you were coming from, but at the same time, nurses and doctors have a really fucking hard job. They work longer hours than most, getting shouted at, sworn and spat at, and all just to pay off their huge college debts. They deserve a little respect.

Don't apologize for anything, our medical people are become idiots that think they can do what they want.... FWIW, I'd have put them and the chair through the wall .... so you did better than me
Bags is right, there was no need for the procedure, nor to put the child through more trauma .... halfwits..... surprised they didn't try and sedate her....

I know they are over worked , it just I dont know what made me snap so bad

Yeah that’s ridiculous that they asked you to leave the room, fuck that shit. Are they stupid?? You have every right to be mad. Whenever I brought my son in for needles and even stitches at 15 months the nurses and doc were more than happy for me to lend a hand and keep my kid clam. Those male nurses you had were idiots and they should be the ones apologizing

Since it was your daughter isn’t it protocol to have a female nurse present. My guess is it would have been handled better and the whole situation could have been avoided.

If it helps at all a guy does mellow out with age. The protective urge is still there but a guy just tends to stand his ground and smile.

Geez. Thats a fucked up position to be in. You did nothing wrong imo. I probably would of been apologizing for knocking out one of the male nurses if they ever grabbed my arm. I have a short fuse and dont think when it comes to shit like that

I’m very sorry your daughter is sick man I wish her a speedy recovery.

You DEFINITELY had a right to be in the room with your daughter with a procedure like that being done by MALE nurses.

They had no right to touch you. I personally see nothing wrong with what you did. Maybe a slight overreaction, but all you were doing was protecting your kid. You’re a good father man

I believe you have a right to have female nurses. I know you have a right to stay with your children.

I think the hospitsl would have done better than sending in 2 male nurses if they had female nurses around. That would be obvious to me if I was working there.
