Letters 30 grams or less cannot be opened without a court order

By law CBSA officers have only the right to open packages. Letters that weigh 30 grams or less can't be touched without a court order or permission from the addressee even if a CBSA officer suspects illegal drugs are inside.

If i remember correctly isn't that why a few years back labs were making paper tabs (kinda like acid blotters) and mailing them in envelopes instead of using tabs or caps?

yes they did. I know of one lab way way way back that would get all their raws in that way. as the johnny cash said "one piece at a time"

What if persay one of your packages letters got stoped that was under 30grams and they couldn't open it would they return it to sender and send you a letter or just let it pass and continue on mailed to your destination of choosing

they keep it and send you a letter

but if its very small under 30 grams, does not contain a hard object like a credit card or id odds are it goes right through

I got a letter saying I had to go to customs, what i can't remember is if they wanted me to give them permission to open it while picking it up or not. It had raws in it so i declined even though the supplier said to go there and pick it up

I still have a letter somewhere
They didn’t ask, if they could have permission to open it, they already did and listed all the illegal items contained lol (wasn’t powder though)

Worst part multiple packs were ordered at once and all shipped. So once they caught the first one like 3 more came and they took them all so it looked bad.
