Previously I made a post about my bp issues and it being higher than I was used to.My heath nurse was always saying your bp is wayyy to high ect which prompted me to see my gp.The gp took my bp and it was 130/82.I was a bit confused and told her about my health nurse at work and here readings. She said it wouldn't hurt to monitor my own bp at home so she gave me a script for a monitor and off I went.So I got a Omron monitor and for 3 weeks it kept giving me high readings. So beinh concerned I made a appt to find out what's going on.We did a comparison using a standard cuff size and the readings were high. Then a light bulb went on and she said wait a min you have big arms I should use the bigger cuff size as I did before. So guess what no wayyyyy better by 20 points. She states smaller cuff size will through off no readings for us guys with bigger muscular arms I guess to use the large cuff size. Now I'm relieved. Uggg.

Cuff size is absolutely legit and will throw off readings that drastically. In the field I work that's why there are a few different sizes to choose from. You pick the most appropriate cuff and go from there.

Also if you have an automatic machine sometimes they need to be calibrated to a degree. You can go to doc and bring machine. They'll match your machine with readings they get from doing a manual BP in the dr office. Usually its within 10mmHg. With that info you can gauge your machines readings a little more accurately.

I gave up on bp readings, they are all over the place and just gives me anxiety thinging about 1 high reading. Only way to do ot is take multiple reading through the day and average them.

I think you could have found that info online before going through all that trouble and stress , but glad you found that .

When you wake up in the morning lie in bed for 5 minutes then take it wall sleeping on your back .
