Egfr issues

So about 3 months ago my bloods were all fuckered. I have been off of everything since and today almost everything was in perfect range except for my egfr.

Last time it was 67

This time it’s 72

The paper said anything under 98 and over 60 means mild kidney impairment.

Usually I wouldn’t think much of it, but this is my second test. I have also not taken a protein shake in about 2 months. I am starting to think of quitting juice permanently. I will try and drink a crazy amount of water and trying again in a couple of weeks. I think I drink enough, but maybe not. I am at a loss here.

I would add that bp was slightly high before now it’s 130/80.

It’s not like I am huge guy either I was around 6ft 220 during my first test. I am about 200 now, due to the fact my trainings been inconsistent temporarily for other reasons.

I probably would be 150-160 if I never trained in my life. I am a very small framed guy, so maybe the small bit of mass I do Cary could be hard on my kidneys?

72 is fine. We all have mild impairment in kidney function and one of the problems is the basic tests used to determine kidney function. They are based on Caucasian males of average size and of an average age. I have to look for what that average may be now.
If you have your results handy with your creatinine levels use the link below to re-calculate your eGFR.

So did this calculator just recalculate my egfr to the higher number? Or is it saying what it should be?

Is egfr based mostly of my creatinine levels then?

Because if that’s a re calculation I am in the 90s which is good

Edit I see it’s a re calculation. That brings me to ease. My doc acts like I am going to die every time he looks at it lol started to make me nervous.

More or less, because you are bigger than most people. eGFR is based on creatinine levels, but if you were presented to a nephro with a number in the Stage 3B he would use a battery of tests to determine what your kidney function was. You aren't there yet.

Stay hydrated. Limit salt and maybe Tren. You should also be watching your protein intake and not be taking in the extreme amounts we are guided to in this sport. A nutritionist working with a nephro would suggest not much more than a gram per kilo, but would also take into account the variables of training and quarterly blood tests. It's not an exact science until you are in kidney failure. Then all kinds of things come into play, well out of my scope of knowledge.

if eGFR is elevated without any other markers to show pathology, then this may just be your normal and there is nothing to worry about. keep drinking, eating, exercising, and monitoring it throughout the year as @Bagua suggests.

Went back today after drinking a gallon of water a day for 3 weeks. I tested at 76 this time. So it’s slowly getting better. Doctor that was on thinks that my steroid use has permanently damage. Just got a call now requesting I go back for a urine sample.

Do the rest of you guys get this reaction after getting bloods? I was talking to a guy I know, dudes 260 on multiple grams at a time year round. He was like “maybe you are fucked mine is always 90+”. I was like fuck you my online friends say my number is normal lol.

Any tips for the urine test should I take a couple of days to eat low protein diet or just test as is? I am guessing protein is what they are testing.

To be honest with you, I wouldn't do anything. You may as well get a 'so called' proper reading and take it from there. The kidneys are pretty resilient and even if you have a low eGFR renal disease can progress pretty slowly. Sometiimes it is a more of how do you feel type thing that comes into play.
I've known people with an eGFR of 9 that weren't on dialysis that felt fine. Others that wound up on dialysis and subsequently a transplant. Use the various calculators and rest easy.
How is your BP?

I would look into astragalus. Its one of the only supplements ive heard that will bring thoose numbers down. Limited research on it. But dante has been preaching about it recently saving some bodybuilders who have done some major damage

Looked up my urine on life labs

Albumin <5mg
Creatinine 9.6 nmol range 3.5-24.5
Albumin/creatinine ratio
Unable to calculate as albumin is lower than the analytical range of the method.

Is this good?

From your post it looks OK. I have to get my Mosby's out to make sure or you can use the online version I posted.

More was added, in another test I am negative Albumin and everything else they tested for, so I am thinking it’s good. I don’t think these doctors know how to recalculate The results to suite me.
