Anybody try kratom?

Hi, I impulse bought some Kratom a couple/three years ago, after I read an article the U.S. gov't was trying to get it scheduled, functionally criminalizing it, and then was a little nervous about trying it.

I really am too old to be getting high, I don't even use caffeine anymore.

But about 12 years ago I did try Salvia Divinorum, as it was legal then and they were talking about making it illegal, and had extremely powerful hallucinations, I smoked a big bowl of 12x extract and it was surprisingly strong. I tried the illegal hallucinogens in my early twenties and Salvia was SO much stronger, but only lasted about 90 seconds.

Overall I'm glad I tried it before it was scheduled although I never tried it again, and am happy with that decision. 90 seconds of being shot out a mental cannon is quite enough please.

I'm wondering if Kratom might be similarly a good choice to try now, since it's still legal, and if anyone here has tried it. I did do my research and know that it can be addictive in a small percentage of users, but meh, some people get addicted to shopping and playing cards for money. so.... yeah.

Also I do know that heavy daily use can cause issues, and that there have been 36 reported kratom deaths, but more than a million people in Thailand alone use the stuff, in some districts 70% of men use it daily, like coffee, so given the numbers, I'm not particularly scared of that. If a million people drink a glass of water some poor bastard is going to accidently hiccup, breathe it in, and drown... that's just statistics.

But I am still wary of it, and would like to hear anyone's reports on how it actually feels?

100% hits opiate receptors. Not sure where you read “that it can be addictive in a small percentage of users”, it’s 100% addictive to all users if taken long enough. Withdrawal is the same as with any opiate.

I’ve been there. After our daughter died I was desperately looking for a happy pill. Antidepressants sucked, made me feel dead inside. A member from here, who passed away a while ago introduced me to kratom. It was exactly what the doctor ordered, I finally felt somewhat human again. It came with a price though.

I’ve since looked into kratom extensively and anyone saying it’s addictive in a small percentage is full of shit, they’re either marketing or in denial.

However, there’s always an however 😂 I think if taken responsibly and in moderation it’s probably just as safe as a glass of wine or beer. Just how much kratom that would be I honestly don’t know.

Don’t let government’s policies dictate any products safety, legal or illegal means shit where they’re concerned. Look at pot, the gateway drug according to them not that long ago but now is perfectly fine 🙄

I've tried it i actually bought alot of it still sitting in my stash . I find its over rated . Tried few companies and other kinds like red leaf ect. It didn't do much for me

I tried it, not sure If I didnt use enough, guys at work on a shut down were dry scooping it, it dried my mouth out instantly. Added water, the texture was AWFUL. I couldnt get past the taste and texture. They seemed to love it though, maybe a blessing in disguise I couldht stand the feeling of swamp silt in my mouth.

I tried it in capsul and tea . Its way over rated .. I tried using it for my motorcycle accident instead of painkillers . Was a huge fail

Damn, for pain, I read you're supposed to take ten to fifteen grams and up, that seems like a lot of capsules to suck back.

I used it lots in the past , when I was in my early twenty’s a good 15 years ago. I used to box out of the Beverly Bronx boxing club I would take it before training days it absolutely increased my stamina and endurance and numbed me out in sparring .
I quit taking it as it was becoming addictive and I was taking it more and more.
I also read it can cause brain damage over time.
It’s kind of like takin a weak ass painkiller like a Tylenol with codeine

People’s varied reactions to kratom i suspect is most likely due to quality. It’s not regulated so there’s a ton of scammers out there. You really have to do some ground work to find a reputable supplier. There is also a huge difference in the strains, some jack you up others mellow you, couple make you super sociable and chatty, and some work well as a pain reliever. And than of course there are also the non responder’s, it’s a thing. If you’ve never used it before 2 to 3 grams first time is more than enough to feel it.

And ya, it definitely has a very “earthy’ taste 🤮

Overrated? When you do find quality kratom you’ll know it, there is no missing that high.

A good source for kratom information is reddit. As with any source on the great www. you’ll have to sift through some of the bullshit but theres some good reading on addiction. I honestly had no idea it was that addictive until I was. There’s some threads there on addiction and different ways that were used to come off.

There’s also some threads on kratom vendors if thats what you’re looking for.
Most are from the states but it’s a legal product in most states and all of Canada

Edit: I should have added this; if a person is using any other opiates your receptors will be saturated and kratom will have little to no effect. I’ve experienced this in reverse, receptors were saturated from kratom use and other products had a very different weird effect. I don’t want to go further with this because i’ll be crossing a line here but it should be noted.

I tried extract when I was younger. It actually got scary sometimes, like I started nodding out standing after smoking a joint. Small doses might be alright but something was weird about that drug. I prefer tiny amounts of edibles after 12pm when I'm already in a good mood.

Swilled down some Kratom a couple weeks ago

If you like gagging on chalk that'll give you diarrhea the next day then go for it (yes it was from a legit and reputable source) still not worth it

Theres better products on the market than kratom

You don’t have to chalk it down, make a tea, stir it in some juice, hell even water works. Honestly, have you ever tried pea protein? 🤮

Was that your time trying it @ClearWater ?

You mentioned there’s better products on the market, I honestly don’t know of a comparable product that is legal.

It still baffles me to read about different opinions and fears about kratom, maybe I'm the weird one. I've been using it solely as a preworkout for the last 5 years, Maeng Da exclusively, no more than a teaspoon which is roughly 3-5 grams. I use the toss and wash method under the tongue with clamato juice and I sure know about the horrible texture/taste kratom is famous for. The effects I get are more like euphoria and motivated to hit the gym and get shit done; I top it off with a capuccino and am ready to kick ass by then. I'm 57 years old and train only 3 times a week and only use it when working out. The horrible taste deters me from using it any other time and sincerely I don't crave it at all except for the habit of using it as a preworkout.

I still to this date don't understand how anyone would consume 10 grams of that shit solely for the opioid effect, but to each his own, I guess I'm guilty as charged, but nonetheless, the energizing effect I get from it and the analgesic soothing from minor aches and pains before working out, especially after my work shift, still makes it appealing for me.

Feel free to add/ask anything and will definitely keep an eye on this thread for info.

I have a few bags of an innovagen product called panacea 2. It’s a mix of kratom an nootropic and cbd. Makes me feel just amazing like elo’s Mr blue sky is my theme music when I take it. I can’t narrow it down to the kratom alone, but the mix works well together.

Yes, you are the odd one from my chats with guys and all the info on the web. I am not throwing dirt at you but there is no question all Kratom hits your opioid receptors and anything that hits those receptors on a multi per week basis your body will inevitably want. It isn't illegal so people can use it but there is a reason there are Kratom detox clinics.
People who are trying to get off strong opioids (prescribed) could easily use 10 grams to try to kill the withdrawal if coming off a prescribed medication with narcotic effects and often people get addicted. Why do people who don't need PED's take them? They are not a fair comparison but people get physiologically addicted and physically addicted to different substances and for some it takes one usage and others it take 25. Why - physiology.

I've been doing a lot of reading about it as well, and I agree, some people get tremendously hooked on this stuff, mostly for the opioid effect which I've never experienced with it since I only take the one teaspoon 3 times a week before working out and don't crave it any other time. The FDA and a lot of the media are trashing this like they did with ephedrine back in the day, just because some dumb kid took 10X the recommended dosage. My take is that If you're the type who has an addictive personality. you'll get hooked on anything, but it would be a shame to ban it.

In the years I've been experimenting with this product, I've only stuck to using the same kratom type (Maeng Da), solely for the effect I'm looking for and never have consumed any more than the 3-5 gms. I possibly couldn't down anymore before gagging (yuck).

I appreciate you chiming into this topic, and that's what these wonderful boards are all about, to share each other's experiences and offer insight on personal experiences.

Like I said before, just throwing my true experiences with it, take it or leave it.😁

There’s YouTube videos of guys taking giant 2L bottles of concentrated tea Thailand and apparently it’s just like an acid trip. It’s supposedly fairly popular with tourists there.

Drank a bottle
