Crazy bad quad pip

I’ve been pinning test prop with no problems. Only ever pinned glutes so I decided I would try quads, because with every other day injections it would be nice to have more injection sites. I pinned my right quad and have absolutely crippling post injection pain. I can be sure it’s not the product because it isn’t my first shot out of the bottle and I’ve been pinning it so far with no problems in the glutes. Are the quads a very sensitive area with a ton of nerves? Did I get unlucky and hit one of these nerves? Or am I just not gonna be able to pin quads? I’m talking crippling pip, like can’t bend my leg at all. Took me about 15 painful minutes just to stand up out of my chair. My right quad is very swollen too like a balloon and very sensitive to the touch. Would really like to be able to keep pinning quads, because it was such an easy pin instead of being twisted around trying to do Glutes.. but I just can’t handle this pip. I’m not one to complain about discomfort, but this is some serious pain.

I personally won't go anywhere near quads. Too many horror stories (also watch Palumbo's video on youtube). There is a ton of nerves there AFAIK.

Delts are a beauty spot, my personal favourite. VG if you haven't opened that up is also awesome. Lats & Pecs are next on my hit list.

What size pin are you using?

Never did a quad shot but this is probably the 5th time I read a similar post. Sounds awful man - how is it today?

I still pin legs but its the only spot I wont let my wife pin me. I shove it in till i hit a nerve then just bend the needle away from the nerve to inject.

Chances are you went too close to a nerve. You don’t even have to hit one just inject too close and the displacement causes pressure on the nerve.

I pinned quads only first year of TRT. Left never a problem. Right every other time I hit something... not fun. It was better going deeper with 1 1/2 pins

Hit and miss, dont know if I've told this story on this forum or not.. but here goes.
Buddy of mine was running Prop, VICIOUS Pip when he pinned qauds.. started saying the gear was bunk.

I pinned the same gear as him into my qaud, felt great.

A lot of dudes hate qauds because of the sheer amount of nerve endings.

Never had an issue with Prop...
Love the qauds as I can jam 3ml in there :D

Edit
@Oldguyjiujitsu 100%
PIP with 1" seems to be more common.
I use 23g 1.5" No problem

Every now and then I hit a nerve in a quad and it feels like I'm injecting battery acid, and the pain shoots down my whole leg. Its rare, but when it happens it sucks. I just pull out and pin the other quad, and no problem.

Its usually my left quad that acts up, but its happened in the right one before as well.

I hate delts. I only pin glutes and quads, its more then enough sites for me and they take more volume. I can get 3ml in mine too, and I always get a nice lump if I go above 2

I’m going to regret saying this, but only once have I had an issue pinning quads. Always use 23g 1” delts for me suck at anything above 1.5ml

I had this feeling but honestly didn’t think much of it. It didnt shoot down my whole leg, I could just sort of feel it spiderweb out from injection site if that makes sense. Figured it was just because it’s a new muscle that’s never been hit, so I just kept going. If I could have foresaw the future I would definitely have never pinned quads. This seriously hurts lol.

I pinned my right quad.

Yeah quads have more nerves and all that blah blah blah. But here's the real issue. 90%+ of people who pin quads pin the wrong muscle.
So statistically there is a very good chance you did too. (statistics courtesy of Tricks' Anecdotes).

Most people will end up pinning their rectus femoris (RF), instead of their vastus lateralis (VL). World's most common mistake. The RF is absolutely filled with nevers. I pinned RF for the first 4 weeks straight of starting gear, didn't know better. Every injection hurt, every time walking was inhibited. Leg deg wasn't doable. I accepted this as a "cost of doing gear". Then a paramedic set me straight on anatomy. When you pin your VL, holy crap is it ever pain free and the easiest thing you will ever do. God damn life changing.

Kicker is, the RF is responsible for articulation of the knee. That's where the whole "jesus I can't walk" feeling comes from when you piss off that muscle.

Why is this mistake so common? The RF is large, protruding muscle on your quad. Just looking at your quad you think "yeah that's obviously the spot".

The VL is very lateral (hence the name). Most people don't even understand that muscle is genuinely part of the quad.

Do you know where your IT band is? Your IT band runs across your VL. IT Band is just fascia tissue so it is harmless to pin through it ultimately. I do it often just to move the spot around.
But if you pin close to the intersection between the RF and the VL (formal recommendation is 2 fingers width from the line where your VL And RF meet) then you will definitely not be pinning through your IT.

If you have indeed done it 100% correct, then sorry about your shit luck.

Very good info. I pinned the right (outer) side of the quad. I think it’s very likely that I did pin the wrong muscle. I definitely can’t bend at the knee without some real serious discomfort.
