I was thinking I need to start doing meal prep. I can make breakfast, lunch, dinner and after workout meals each time, but I need to meal prep the other two. I just don’t have time to cook them.
I was thinking chicken and rice. Will the rice last 6 days? Not worried about chicken, I know it will, my cooler is very cold. If not has anyone froze rice?

Also other than tuna, does anyone have any easy carb protien meals that I don’t have to cook, or could meal prep once a week. You know something I might just hear in a microwave or eat cold.

I just can’t take the fucking gas from protien powder anymore.

Thx

I do all of my meal prep on a Sunday and it's still good the following Saturday (daresay it's good well after that too).

Only downside is the chicken breast is usually dry so generally leave chicken thigh meals for that long.

I eat chicken and rice 5 times per day multiple days a week and have had no issues. Marinating the chicken helps on the flavour front along with BBQ'ing it all. As far as the rice goes buy a big ass rice cooker and add stuff to it.. good quality stock, frozen vegetables, spices etc.

EDIT: Also on weekends I'll try cook excess red meat and potatoes so I have leftovers for during the week. If a recipe says it's for 6 people I'll cook it for 6 which means lots of leftovers. The only thing I wont use for meal prep is fish as I like to eat it the day its cooked.

Me too, Sorby. It seems all the protein I buy these days wreaks havoc with my guts. The only one that doesn't is Muscle Milk, but it costs an arm and a leg.
I kinda got sick of rice years ago, but do need to give it a go and yea you can freeze it. I eat very little red meat so it's more or less chicken and tuna, plus hot dogs. ;)

my guts hate whey...so i use vegan, its gut friendly and some of them taste decent...you should try. if you make it into a smoothie with oats, PB and some frozen fruit its a pretty good treat.

I meal prep Sunday and Wednesday. i don't push rice past 72 hours as i was told it grew bacteria faster than most refrigerated items?? another option is sweet potato. If you boil 15 minutes and then mash its really easy to eat. I tend to stick to chicken plus I prep a few with just the rice/sweet potato and veggies and then just throw in some leftover meat from dinners. I use the meal prep containers from costco.

For convenience I eat canned fish such as flavoured tuna, mackerel, herring, sardines and salmon. Decent protein portions and good fats per can

I do that as well. In fact I just may do that later tonight. I have lots of sardines in my cupboards.

Make up 5lbs of ground beef
Make 5 oz ziploc bags or whatever
Freeze some of them
Heat it up with some rice and chicken stock
Enjoy

Any one in particular?

PVL Plant-Pro is my fav. (I get from supplement source.ca) but some of the Popeyes also carry

also like Raw Fusion. (Bodybuilding.com)

You have to be a little careful with vegan proteins as some have crazy amounts of iron. Vega has 55% of daily allowance in one scoop. Both above have very little...if any

I do that as well. Put it in ziplock snack bags 5-6oz and freeze. 2 min in microwave and ready to eat. I usually use ground turkey, bison or elk

Have you tried plant based protein powder - I use Vega Sport performance protein? Each serving has 30 g of protein. 6 grams BCAA, 6 grams glutamine, probiotic and turmeric. Has a lot of pea protein, pumpkin protein, sunflower seed protein. I wait for it to go on sale or buy it on vitamart.
Whey protein does a number on my stomach.
I third what @Beothuk said - love canned fish for convenience.

I'm doing meal prep every sunday morning for the whole week. Supply mostly end arounf friday or rarely some saturday.
Everything look good after 5-6 days, some things start to loose their original flavor but ain't that bad.
Pretty usefull to have rice and veggie always on hand.
In the summer i prepare a little bit less meats because i can marinate them and rapidly cook them on the bbq. But in winter i just do everything needed for 5-6 days.
Make me enjoy even more my week-end meal just because they are fresh loll
