Had to make a choice at work.

I have to reply. As a guy who is turning 50 next June, I gotta ask....HOW THE F$$K DO YOU CONTINUOUSLY WORK 80hr WEEKS? I did that when I was in my 20's at my uncle's farm. Now? No Thank You!!!!! You did the right thing so stop feeling guilty! We (humans) need balance and you don't have that. Slow it down some and enjoy your life. Finish the garage and enjoy working out whenever you want (it's awesome trust me). And the hunters will find someone else to do up the deers. If I haven't gotten you mixed up with someone else, and you live where I think you do, then I'll ask...doesn't Gilmour's do deer? Let Nick and the boys have all the fun.

Good for you @Sorbate. After reading this thread what I find astonishing is how many hunters cannot process their own meat. Myself I am not a butcher by any means. Chef by trade. I had the "old school" cook TQ3 OJT (Canadian Armed Forces) booklet from the late 70s early 80s, we had the butcher chapter. I can hold my own. Prepping, traveling, stalking, killing and processing the animal is all part of the hunt experience. Completely blows my mind.

Yeah I agree, processing your animal is such a huge part of the whole harvest. Difference between good hunters, and bad hunters lol.

August it is...my birthday is July so we got equal time...picture pose down it is! Lol

Only rule is best dam 50 year olds!

You are 50 this July, I’m 50 at the end of August.
So perfect.
I walked upstairs yesterday and stood between my wife and her tv, lol, then I stated, damn othervthan this big gut, I’m not in bad shape for 2 years off, lol. If I keep it up, I’ll really look like a bodybuilder. She rolled her eyes and asked me to move, so Halloween cooking show was on.
Anyhow I wax mentioning this to the guys out front at work, they looked at me weird, one guy says, you look like a bodybuilder now.
I don’t really see it, I think it’s because I can see what I want to look like, plus spend too much time watching pros so my view has been distorted.
But either way, we will both look wicked.

I work those hours because I’m not a pussy, lol.

I do it because I have to. I’m sick of it. Last couple years has not been as bad all the time, other than all this covid shit.

It’s just who I am. My dads the same way. My wife is worse. I remember when we first moved in together, I’d have to physically hold her down to get her to stop cleaning or rearranging. So sometimes I keep going because of guilt, lol.

You got it right where I am. Not sure if the guys at gilmores cut or not. Thing is most don’t cut like me. All boneless, trimmed and the steaks are portioned. I could easily sell it on my counter because it looks so nice. Honestly most butchers are hacks, no idea what the guys at Gilmore are like. I’m not originally from the area. I moved here and kinda just kept to myself and worked. But hey, if they want to do the crap work, I’ll make all the smoked sausage, lol.

I had 2 regular hunters come in today, and boy they looked heartbroken.
