Mandatory Masks

All of the mental health stuff you mentioned is being addressed right now by pretty much all the major agencies across Canada. Once again it is all mitigation. I can tell you from stats (Surveys are all that can be done at the moment) and conversations I have with folks I know in the field that anxiety is way up. A therapist I was talking to today coined the term rudderless. People need to work and be social. It is part of what makes us human. Suicide we won't know about for a few months, but it generally goes up in periods of high unemployment and as you mentioned so does crime.
The failure to go to the hospital for major health concerns is a huge problem and we are seeing people suffering from longterm cardiac damage that could have been prevented if the medical community was more on the ball in making sure people knew ER's were open and safe. That was a blunder.
I’ve been ok because I’ve been working. My wife is frustrated because for a couple months all she could do was get groceries and was tired of hearing about it.
I’ll tell you though thru it all I’ve been completely fine, but when they instituted masks, I was depressed for a couple days, ‘like really, it’s only 30 fucking cases and you are testing 10 times the amount”
My fear is how far are they going to go. Doug Ford publicly told the health units to lay off a bit. They are getting a bit out of hand.
But I’m ok again, but no motivation. Work is like training for me, wearing a mask is like wearing one and training at the gym.

I also noticed and had places I supply mention that their business fell off again after the masks were instituted. They were barely above water already. More than one have told me they will never climb out, or spend their time till retirement doing so, if they can retire now. It’s so sad. I wonder what that is doing to their mental state.

One guy who owns a large construction company was almost in tears when he was explaining how he had to lay off the majority of his staff, and was likely going to lose some new equipment he purchased. Like he said, he’s been doing really well the last decade, thinking of retiring at 62, those plans are gone if he can stay a float. All his large contracts, like Tim Hortons and such cancelled.

Everyone thinks of the at risk and elderly, what about the rest of us?

Does Costco sell masks? I get mine from ex-wifey and Penetang. Long story there, man.

When penetang is involved.... it’s always a long story.

Yep Costco has them in town here sir. They are a good deal.... but they are source control only.... but good for going out here and there....just don’t perform any surgeries! Lol!

The only reason masks are being forced on us is to give us a visual reminder of fear, and the plan is to use this to push vaccinations.

It has been made very clear to those pulling the strings that people do not respect lockdowns or social distancing. The mandatory mask is the latest attempt to push the narrative as it is self policing.

Some places are making it mandatory here, and I play ball: I made a mask that is literally like wearing nothing at all. Take a bandanna and cut it in half, like a triangle. Hem the cut and there you have it. One single layer of completely useless fabric that has pores large enough for fine sand to fall through and breathes as easy as no cover at all.

If this were the case i may wear one.
Hahaa

Oh.. my.. god. The horror!

I remember vividly when I was a kid being on a public transport train in rural Germany where people did not wear deodorant. I almost threw up and had to push myself to a window to breathe. Its beyond disgusting, akin to a rotting corpse.

If people go this far a mask won't help, unless you stuff it with garlic and onions.

I don't know. All I can reasonably discuss is how the mental health community is preparing for an onslaught. The economic aspects I have my theories and opinions and have read quite a bit, but it is not my area of expertise.

You can speculate on the economy, I’d actually like your opinion.

I try to stay out of politics and economics on the board.
Bwahaaa.
I wasn’t setting you up. I was truly interested. It’s always good to see another point of view. Gives me a better grasp on the picture of what to expect in the future. See you base your ideas on your habits, and there is a portion of people similar to you with the similar habits.

I was not going to argue with you about it.

I do notice after a week of a mask 10 or so hours a day, my mouth and throat feel gross, like I smoked to much the night before.

Oh and it’s likely bullshit, but I thought all us mask haters would like it.View attachment 5331
LOL there's always one thing that trumps whatever eyeroll conspiracy stuff out there. Doctors and Nurses have been wearing masks of some sort for well over 50 years. Not one of them has died from some sort of miners' lung or increased amount of pneumonia. They're not dropping dead from strange mask related reasons.

Do the people making these stupid things realize that whatever you're breathing out goes to the inside of the mask? The mask is just a strainer. Strains the bad crap out (hopefully) and strains your bad crap in(hopefully). Which is why you never handle the front or back of your mask. Just the elastics/sides.

The conclusion from my non-medical source? Don't lick the inside or outside of your mask after wearing it=A OK. =)

Remember though, they normally don’t wear it all day long though. At least as far as I know

I can relate to that. I wore one for five or six hours during SARS and thought it was brutal.

A very good point. It would be like any other filter and fill up with particulate one would imagine. I would be interested to see what the advisory on how long you should wear a single mask is. I don't believe I've seen THAT statistic yet.

The worst of it is. Every one of those rigs indirectly touches countless jobs all across Canada. If Canadians understood the process from exploration, to lease construction, drilling, completions. The amount of manpower it requires they may think about this whole situation differently. Shit just the amount of tires the oilfield would burn through in a year would be mind blowing. This affects the factories out east. The countless trucks that aren’t getting pounded out, fixed with parts or completely replaced. Another hit to the east. Hotels, restaurants, gas stations. The poor cleaning staff that is laid off from empty hotels. All those single mothers who could make a great living being a waitress in an oilfield town.
I’ve seen it countless times when you get a bunch of guys sitting at a lounge having drinks and dinner. Most of the wages of the guys that work at the table are somewhere between 100-300k per year. Guess what, a $250 bill for a table will likely result in a $100 tip for the girl.
Canada has no idea what it has lost. No help from the government for the oilfield.
Even worse is fellow Canadians happy to see Alberta fail.

The fight for separation out here is real

Just read this and I want to comment. I absolutely agree 100% with what is written. I really can't understand the thinking of the clowns in Ottawa about Alberta/Canadian oil. They want to shut down Alberta even though it brings in billions & billions from taxes? We need oil jobs!! I work at a Goodyear Tire manufacturing plant and the comment about tires struck me. I completely understand why Alberta is pushing to separate from Canada......but I hope they don't. Instead of Alberta leaving, maybe Quebec can go! If Alberta leaves Canada, Quebec won't get as much equalization payment which looks REAL good on them. Hang in there Alberta, there are A LOT of Ontarians behind you 150%

Get Quebec to separate? Who's going to generate the 1/3 of all electricity generated in canada?
As for Alberta separating? Please.
